Truncated Icosahedron – Site V is an immersive installation by Inger Bergström and Lotte Nilsson Välimaa, featuring a monumental soft sculpture in motion, a four-channel sound piece by Sven Blume, and a hidden video object.
A shimmering, gold-ochre sphere—built from meticulously cut fabric—gently sways, animated by the oscillation of fans. Its rhythmic movement alters perceptions of scale and space, while an evolving soundscape blends abstract tones with urban rhythms. Inspired by the mathematical precision of Archimedean solids, the sculpture explores how geometry shapes architectural space. Suspended between tension and fluidity, it echoes how architecture defines and transforms its surroundings.
Through a playful yet precise interplay of movement, material, and sound, the work challenges the boundaries between form, function, and perception. New layers will be introduced in the Rotterdam edition of this evolving project, previously presented in five distinct site-specific forms.
